Clutch Rod and Bushing
Original bushings are normally cracked and falling apart causing poor clutch operation and incomplete clutch disengagement resulting in grinding transmission teeth and a burnt clutch. This replacement clutch rod bushing is manufactured from higher quality materials than the stock GM part that has not been available for decades. This replacement bushing has 3 components just like the originals. The cup and sleeve is machined from steel for improved fit and smooth operation where the original GM bushing metal parts are pressed and rolled steel. The rubber part of this replacement bushing is made from polyurethane which is a much harder and durable than the rubber GM used and will withstand more heat and cold with less deterioration than the GM part.
Each car uses two bushings, one bushing is inserted in the clutch rod and the other identical bushing is inserted in the top part of the "Z" bar to hold the rod which passes through the fire wall.
Using this replacement bushing will restore proper clutch operation, isolate and cushion the clutch pedal from throwout bearing vibrations and provide many years of satisfactory service.
